Zumba Classes at Evolve Yoga
Join us every Monday & Saturday for an awesome Zumba class at Evolve.
Grooving to the beats of salsa, bachata, and merengue music feels more like a dance party than a workout, which is exactly what we aim for. The Latin-inspired dance workout is one of the most popular group exercise classes in the world, and we bring it to you every Monday & Saturday at Evolve Yoga & Fitness
The high-energy classes are set to upbeat music and feature choreographed dance numbers that you might see in a nightclub. You don’t need to be a great dancer, experience dancing to feel welcomed in our Zumba classes. Our classes emphasize moving to the music and having a good time, no rhythm required.
Working up a sweat in the 60-minute classes burns an average of 369 calories — no more treadmill or home workouts. You’ll get a great cardio workout that melts fat, strengthens your core, and improves flexibility.
Zumba Provides A Full Body Workout:
Core: The steps and routines emphasize the hips and midsection to help strengthen the core.
Legs: Yes. The jumps and lunges that are parts of the choreographed movements help work the quads and hamstrings. If you can not jump, don’t worry we can have low impact alternatives to help you.
Glutes: Yes. You’ll feel the burn in your buns while you move to the beat.
The Workout:
Aerobic: Yes. The high-and low-intensity intervals make Zumba an excellent cardio workout.
Strength: Yes. Traditional Zumba workouts emphasize strengthening the core, while Zumba Toning and Zumba Step workouts incorporate weights to build muscles in the arms, legs, and glutes.
Low-Impact: The classes are high-energy and involve jumping, bouncing, and other high-impact moves, however, we provide low impact alternatives for those that need it.
What to Expect Your First Class
You’ll be exposed to lots of different dance styles.
Zumba features a blend of dance styles including salsa, merengue, hip-hop, and reggaeton. A Zumba class will include a variety of faster and slower songs, bringing up the intensity and then scaling it back.
The Warm-up and a cool down.
The warm-up portion of the class won’t feature any complicated but focuses on getting you warmed up and ready for the party. The last song in class will be the cooldown, during which you’ll stretch, and get your body settled. “During the cooldown, you’ll pay attention to the different body parts that you worked during class, especially your legs.
Some moves might be hard on your knees.
When you’re dancing and jumping around during the bulk of a Zumba class, this can put pressure on your knees and feet, so it’s important to wear sneakers that offer enough support. Let your instructor know beforehand if you have any knee issues because they can easily offer modifications.
Grab water when you need it.
At Evolve we offer complimentary bottled water at the beginning of the class, so no worries if you forgot your water bottle. If you need to take a break in the middle of a song or in between songs then that’s totally fine, stop and grab some water. Sometimes your body needs a two to three-second break, that’s OK Listen to your body, stop and take a break. If you need more water, grab it.”
Practice Makes Perfect
Many of the steps practiced during Zumba classes are repeated in different songs, you’ll eventually start to pick them up. Come once or twice a week, but eventually, you will become great at it. You’ll really start getting the hang of things after two or three classes. “It does get easier over time as you start recognizing the steps,”
